You probably are already aware of the gem that is Google Adwords. Google Adwords is Google’s pay per click (PPC) advertising platform that delivers advertisements across its search engine. When you do a Google search, the first few entries are shaded slightly and are actually advertisements. It is called pay per click because no matter how many times your ad is viewed, you only pay when someone actually clicks on the ad. This is done on a bidding process, and depending on the demand for the search term, it can range from $1 - $5 per click.

A basic Google Adwords campaign is a great start for your business, but it is only the beginning of how you can leverage the world’s most popular search engine, and most popular website to grow your business. Did you know that there are 34,000 Google searches per second?

In the past year, Google has rolled out many new ways to augment your campaign. They include:

Audience Targeting using the display network: In addition to search advertisements, Google also has the largest display network in the world. These ads serve 80% of Audiencesglobal internet users, and over 6 billion advertisements per day. One of they key advantages to these types of ads is that, unlike search ads, you can target these ads. Because Google’s network of sites spans all genres, you can tell Google to have your ads only appear on sites that meet your target market. This will increase the ad’s effectiveness. A good example of this is targeting an ad for cameras to sites that discuss professional photography and photo editing. As before, you only pay per click.

Google Media Ads: These are short, 10-30 second video clips that you produce and Google will place them on targeted websites. This is most effective on sites where people are expecting video, such as news websites and YouTube. There are many options to choose from , including have them Google-Adwords-Video-150x150start automatically, be placed in between YouTube videos, or have a static image that invokes the video

Google Offers: One of Google’s latest products to roll out is Google Offers. A competitor to Groupon and other one day services, Google Offers far more flexibility. You can set up coupons for as long as you like, you can target them geographically, and integrate mobile. There are even options on how the coupon will be delivered. You can choose between printing the coupon, having it e-mailed, texted to your phone, or even loaded into your Google Wallet.
